UBHC is a wonderful place. I have been admitted here in the month of Jan 2017 as I was suffering from Schizophrenia (schizo-affective disorder), hallucinations and delusions. I wasn't eating properly for almost a year. I was inpatient for almost 24 days and I had seizure during mid of Jan 2017. These people took right action and put me back in good health with the help of RWJ and St Peters hospitals nearby. Services are amazing. Food is great. Even though being a chemical engineer it's a great opportunity and experience for me to see people with disabilities and their needs for life and the government tries to help and stabilize them.
They will remove all hope and dignity.
This place needs to have an Investigation done by the state to ensure there is advocates for the patients that use this place or are forced by involuntary admittance. My boyfriend has mental health issues and was diagnosed by these people. For 10 years UBHC set up his care inpatient, out patient day program and end result set up in South Brunswick for his meds and therapy. Ive been with my boyfriend for 2 years and sat and watched the care he was receiving from this place and i was shocked by their conduct.
*** To anyone placing their loved ones inpatient please please watch the staff closely!! They will make fun or threaten the patient if they dont see family members coming to see them. Its typically a 1 week - 1 month in patient but they have kept my boyfriend for over 6 months in the past. He had no advocate and they tried doing the same thing a few months ago. They didnt realize he had a girlfriend with an advance directive!!! I will continue to ask for the investigations to be done!!!! What this place did to my boyfriend during the course of 10 years is horrid!!!
I'm lucky to be alive. Liars and abusers.
Nightmare of a place. Staff and nurses make fun of you or call the police to bully patients. You have no rights here what so ever. Disgusted with how these people handled me and loaded me up with meds that were never needed. In a new out patient place that has me on track and stopped all the uncalled for meds that were making me sick. If these guys see you have no one visiting you they abuse the situation and take rights away from you.
I advise people to get advance directives set in place because these doctors try to take full control and make situations 100 times worse. 4 months ago my boyfriend was having an episode , i decided to take him in through APS. As i walked through the doors a older , heavy set black man came to the door and said " who evers being seen is going to the hospital". He locked all doors which prevented anyone from leaving. I heard them saying to admit who ever came if they have insurance.
If you're poor or just don't care this is the place for you.
Unprofessional hate filled staff.
Long story short tey attempted to hold me involuntary and i wasnt even the patient. I demanded for them to let me take my boyfriend else where because they didnt even have patient info and within 5 minutes they were trying to take the wrong person. The nurse called the police when i demanded they let us go. The police realized there was a bigger issue with UBHC locking people in the building and refusing to let us go. The staff did not have my boyfriend's info, let alone his name, it was crazy within 5 minutes of being there it turned into a nightmare. The police were called by the nurse stating a patient was trying to breakout and in return the hospital ended up getting in trouble. I was recording the entire time on my phone and the police stated that the staff basically restricted our freedom to move about freely. They were even more suprised that the staff didnt even have our names.
A horrible place with horrible staff.
Do not use this place ever!!
And then stigmatize you. Foul business.
Positive Reset is working closely with him and making great progress after they stopped UBHC poising him with too high of dose of a medication!!
Been victimized several times by staff.
They screwed me over and almost cost me my life. I lost almost everything I owned due to their carelessness.
After this i decided to see exactly the treatment plan that was laid out for my boyfriend for the last 10 years. Out of 10 years they never had him therapy and that only started February of 2016. He was nonstop having episodes so i took him to my private doctor to have lab work done and his med levels were 10x higher than the recommended doses. In fact the medication was causing him to have the episodes he was having.
I removed him completely out UBHC and took him to Positive Reset. They obtained his records and became disgusted and will be asking for an investigation that goes back to when he was a Teen. Lets just say alot of unethical, illegal things took place by student doctors, nursing staff. This place is a joke to say the least! The utilize the Rutgers Police as their hench men and force patients into being intimidated. Please find any other place for your loved ones!!
I know.
very poor continuation of care.... it's been over a month since my intake and still no phone call even after having reached out to them 4 times
